MAP Support Club's Partnership With Prostasia Foundation
You may have read somewhere on the internet that some scary-sounding site called MAP Support Club is operated or moderated by Prostasia Foundation.
This is false.
Prostasia Foundation operates as a child protection partner to MAP Support Club, and has provided us with three main benefits:
- Financial proxy – they help serve as an easy way for our staff and members to donate towards our continued operation.
- Child protection software – they have paid to integrate Microsoft's PhotoDNA into the software in which we operate, Rocket.Chat. This software scans our chat for sexually harmful images of children.
- Advising us on legal and public relations issues – they have assisted us in ensuring that terms of service and our privacy policy are up to scratch. We are also working with them on a review of our draft safeguarding policies, and have implemented a zero tolerance policy towards 1-on-1 interactions with minors on our platform which you can read about here. We have made it not technically possible for minors to read or send direct messages on our platform.
As you can see from our terms of service, we are committed to never harming children or tolerating harm towards them on our platform. We have many strict rules that we enforce. Our administrators have the ability to access direct messages if they have any reason to believe that someone is breaking our rules or the law.
MAP Support Club exists because of two simple facts:
- The average age at which someone discovers they are sexually attracted to prepubescent children is 14 years. Source.
- The stigma towards minor-attracted people is such that peer support is usually the only manner of support available to us. Source.
Every human being on this planet deserves support to live healthy lives, including us.
If you agree, please donate to help us provide that support.
